I want to share a couple of images from last Saturday’s “Shooting for Success” photography workshop featuring Knoxville-based photographer Patrick Murphy-Racey, whose work has graced several covers of Sports Illustrated and appeared in other leading national publications.

Patrick led a progressive lighting workshop at the UT Conference Center, sharing lighting tips for some 60 students pursuing the UT Photography Certificate.

His day-long workshop included a discussion on the types of light sources, light modifiers, and suggestions on how the students can develop a strong portfolio of work (appropriately lighted, of course).

UT non-credit photography instructor Ron McConathy attended the workshop and took these photos of Patrick and a model who assisted him during various lighting demonstrations.

The next workshop in our “Shooting for Success” series will feature Rob Provencher and James Hodgins on November 6.

The registration fee is $129 (lunch included), but you can save $10 by registering before September 7.

Online registration is already available.
