“Mt. LeConte Hike and Overnight in the Lodge” is perhaps the most popular course offered through our Smoky Mountain Field School.

We  offer a spring, summer, and fall version of the course, and I can’t recall a time over the past three years when it didn’t sell out.

However, I found out this afternoon that we’ve still got five openings for this weekend’s summer hike (June 20-21).

If you’re interested, register online or call (865) 974-0150 and we’ll prepare you for a weekend adventure led by experienced authors, hikers, and storytellers Charles Maynard and David Morris.

The course fee is $155, and you need to be in good physical condition ready for a rigorous five to eight mile climb.

A few details about Mt. LeConte and LeConte Lodge …

Since its establishment in the 1920s, LeConte Lodge has been a rustic attraction for hikers. At an elevation of 6,593 feet, it it the highest guest lodge in the eastern United States.

The true charm of LeConte Lodge is in the friendly spirit of the people who visit it — people who find relaxation and renewed energy in the cool, majestic solitude at the top of the Smokies.
