3259600747_928257935d11Actor Ed Norton and singer Alanis Morissette appeared on “Larry King Live” last night to promote Earth Hour 2009.

I noticed a flyer about the event on the UT campus last week, but paid little attention to it.

However, Norton and Morissette caught my attention while channel surfing just before bedtime Wednesday.

Earth Hour 2009 urges everyone to turn off their non-essential lights and appliances for one hour beginning at 8:30 p.m. on Saturday, March 28.

Sounds simple to me. I’ll gladly do it.

Organizers of the global event ask everyone to use their light switch as their vote. Switching off your lights is a vote for Earth. Leaving them on is a vote for global warming.

Green and sustainable living issues remain hot topics, and UT Professional & Personal Development has a non-credit course on May 7 titled “Strategic Energy Planning.”
